Before you order.

How is this different from a pencil?

The tip is a hard metal alloy rather than graphite in a wooden casing. It marks the page the same way but wears down slowly enough that you will not sharpen it.

Does it need sharpening?

No. The metal alloy tip wears down very slowly, so there is nothing to sharpen.

What is it best for?

Notes, lists and marking up. The 0.5 mm line is fine and consistent. It is not suited to soft, dark drawing.

Does it take refills?

No. It does not take conventional lead refills. The tip wears slowly, which is the point of it.
